This is an independent website. It is not connected with the Government or any State body.

irishtaxdisc.com lists the Irish motor tax rates for private cars and what it costs to tax a car for twelve, six or three months. Every figure comes from an official source: the Department of Transport table of motor tax rates, the Department's gov.ie page on motor tax rates and Citizens Information. Some rules, such as refunds and imported cars, come from Motor Tax Online (motortax.ie). How a registration plate shows the year comes from the Vehicle Registration (Identification Marks) Regulations 2013 (S.I. No. 452 of 2013). The sources are listed at the bottom of each page, with the date we accessed them.

This website does not give personal advice. For your own car, check the amount when you renew your motor tax.
